These pictures are photograph’s of the Lanchester library, which was named after the engineer Frederick Lanchester. The award winnning building is well known for its highly energy efficient design. Occupying almost ten thousand square metres, it is completely naturally ventilated and employs natural light with innovative lighting technology to significantly reduce energy.
The Power of the Sun

the surface of the sun, called the photosphere is at a temperature of about 5800k. sunspots are cool regions only 3800k but they look dark only by comparion with the surrounding regions. Sunspots can be very large as much as 50,000 km in diameter. Sunspots are caused by complicated and not very well understood interactions with the sun’s magnetic field.
During my research about the Sun i discovered that the sun is capable of helping the human body avoid certain diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. People who leave in a extremely hot country have an average cholesterol count of 80 points lower than the average person leaving in the U.S and the U.K. Therefore this proves that the sun is a extremely important to the human race and all other living things because without the sun we will all die. the sun is very powerful indeed because if the heat wave of the sun can help us from the illness i mentioned before then that says it all.
According to Heliopolis (ancient Egyptians) Ra is the sun god and their protector and guardian. Ra originally meant ‘mouth’ in the Egyptian language and was a reference to his creation of the deities of ogdoad system, excluding the eight concepts which created him, by the power of speech. Ra was considered self created and the creator of all. He is known to be the father of Tefuut ( godess of moisture) and shu (god of air or atmosphere). Ra has been known by many names and take many forms. This makes him one of the most confusing gods to understand. At sunrise he is Khepera, represented by the sacred scarab. Around noon when the sun is at its full power, he is Ra. Two thousand, five hundred years ago before christ many people in the world believed that the sun was God because it was the main source which provided them with good crop and because of that, they worship the sun as their God.
Solar Power
•October 24, 2008 • Leave a Commentthrough out history people have used the sun for drying clothes and food for thousands of years, but recently scientists have discovered a new use for the sun which is genrating power. the sun is hundred and fifty million kilometres away and amzingly powerful. Just the tiny fraction of the sun’s energy that hits the earth and that it self is enough energy arrives at the earth to meet our demands for a whole year- if only we could harness it properly.
However, in the U.k there are grants avilable to help you install solar power in your homes. Also there are three main ways that we use the sun’s energy and one is solar cells which in other words called photovoltaic and its job is to convert sun light directly into electricity. Normally in sunny climate, you can get enough power to run a 100 w light bulb from just one square metre of solar panel.
Life on earth, and of course all humann activity, depends on the availability of sufficient power to support that activity. Mary Archer tells us of some understanding of power and where this power comes from. Mary Archer is a british scientist who is specialised in the field of solar power conversion. She studied chemistry at St Anne’s college, Oxford and then physical chemistry at imperial college london, before becoming a lecturer at cambridge university. From 1988 to 2000 she was chairman of the national energy foundation, which promotes renewable energy. Archer examines and forecasts human power usage and supply. she goes on to talk about the future of sustainable power sources addressing the rate with which we consume fossil fuel resources and the alternatives that might supply the hundreds of exajoules we consume each year.
